Franka Potente has emerged as a personality of high profile in the years since »Nach fünf im Urwald«. After the international success »Lola rennt«, she made her way to Hollywood: After a supporting role in »Blow« with Johnny Depp, she got a leading role in a US production: »The Bourne Identity« with Matt Damon. In 2006 she made her debut as a director in »Der die Tollkirsche ausgräbt« and played in Oskar Röhler’s film »Elementarteilchen«. She recently finished her work in Steven Soderbergh’s film on the life of the guerrilla leader Che Guevara, playing the role of Tamara Bunke. The film will released in 2008. For her achievements as an actress Franka Potente has been awarded the German Film Prize and the Bavarian Film Prize.
