Majid Sattar was born in 1970 from Iraqi parents in the Lower Rhine and raised there. After High School and a year as an exchange student in the United States, he studied Political Science and History in Saarbrücken and Freiburg. After several leaves of study in Washington. D.C., he obtained his PhD in Freiburg in 2000 with a thesis on the American Congress. After a traineeship at the Heilbronner Stimme, he collaborated there in the political section, before changing in 2004 to the online editing staff of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. In the middle of 2004 he became member of the political staff of that newspaper. At first responsible for foreign policy issues, he now concentrates on questions of interior policy,
He lives with his wife and son in Bad Wilhelmshöhe.
