Jürgen Seidler was born in 1958 in Konstanz. He studied political science in Freiburg as well as in Berlin and trained as a theatre director at the acting academy in Zürich. In Zürich and Berlin he worked as an assistant director as well as directing his own productions. He produced several prize-winning documentaries, which have been shown in cinemas and at festivals worldwide. In 1999 he became manager of the development agency Script House, where he supervised scripts and series dramaturgically. From 2013 he worked as a series producer for the Novafilm television production in Berlin. In 2014 his script Pizza Kabul was awarded the Deutscher Drehbuchpreis as best script not yet filmed. His script Reise nach Algier was funded by BKM in 2016. Since 2014 he has written scripts especially for series, television and cinema. Since 2009 he teaches script writing at the dffb.
