Matthias Wittekindt was born in 1958 in Bonn. After studying architecture and philosophy of religion, he worked as an architect in Berlin and London. Then some years as a stage director followed. Since 2000 Wittekindt has been working as a freelance author: For his radio plays, TV documentaries – both represented by Rowohlt media agency – and stage plays he was awarded with numerous prizes. In 2014 his novel Marmormänner was second runner up at the German Crime Award. Wittekindt has a daughter and lives in Berlin.
