Weltreporter.net is the first network of free correspondents reporting for the German-language media. It was founded in the fall of 2004. Meanwhile there are almost fifty active global correspondents, who report day and night from over 160 countries.
Their interest in people and places, their curiosity for news and the hidden facets of the familiar was the main motive for most of them to go abroad. Each one of them had lived at her or his location for years, and all of them are part of a close and active network. Thus, the global correspondents discover the stories behind the news. The UN correspondent Marc Engelhardt (Geneva) is the chairman of the network.
